Didier Farms Pumpkinfest - ** This review was published in 2. Aptakisic in Lincolnshire, annual Pumpkinfest opens tomorrow, September 2. October 3. 1st (*see above). Pumpkinfest seems a tame moniker for the actual festival, which in my mind would be better known as “Pumpkin- palooza.”If you’re looking for a quaint, rural, U- Pick farm experience than Didier Farms is not for you. Ryan and her buddies Gretchen and Hayden enjoy a day at the Pumpkin Patch; October 18, 2009. Music credit: 'The Munsters' theme song, performed by Mannheim.Bengtson Farms has fall festival activities for families. From one of Illinois' biggest pumpkin patches to a Fun Barn, you'll enjoy your day at the farm. Your typical fall festival attractions include hayrides, corn maze, and a petting zoo while some of their more unusual attractions include an exotic bird exhibit, camel rides, and a white tiger exhibit. The complete list includes (are you ready for this?) a tractor hayride, straw maze, pony rides, crafts, mechanical rides, giant slide, train ride, and inflatable jump. For no fee you can enjoy Teepees, pig silo with baby piglets, view the farm animals and visit the Education Barn with live baby chicks. The Farmstand Market and concessions will also be open where you can purchase the ubiquitous apple cider donuts or hot apple cider. The nice thing is that all the carnival rides are kiddie- sized so your pre- schooler or adventurous toddler can participate. We really liked the train which wound through an actual corn field. Boredom is simply not an option here, but overstimulation is a definite possibility. When we attended with our two- year old last year, the exotic and wild animals were a definite surprise and our son was enraptured. I thought it was kind of weird and not in keeping with a fall theme, and was honestly bothered by the baby bear and liger (yes a real liger. At times like these, you might be grateful for that child with a short attention span because with so many exciting attractions, those tickets can add up! WHAT: Pumpkinfest. WHERE: Didier Farms. W.
